Stella and Philippe Coupe use a technique they call splash photography to create beautiful images of liquid droplets. Paint or ink is dropped onto a black acrylic surface. Then, an image is captured, showing how the droplets spread during impact. They vary how each droplet rebounds by changing the temperature, viscosity, density, and volume of the fluid they are working with.
If you go to their website, www.splashfineart.com, you can see how each image is unique. No photo has the exact same splash trajectory. I like the contrast of the colors and the mirror-like finish of the black acrylic.

Third Place: I absolutely love the colour in this image! The contrasting splash with the black background really draws the focus to the splash. The complimenting and blending colours forming this cool splatter shape really make the image fun to look at.
