The motion of the smoke is cool to see. It’s interesting how the density of the plume varies so much within the image. I also like that the shadows are visible on the background, though that does soften the black quite a bit.
Interesting smoke rings! cool phenomena. I would have wished to see the image in a little sharper focus or quality.
Art: The contrast between the background and the smoke but maybe some additional post processing could be used to darken the background.
Flow: The flow is quickly understandable and recognized.
Photographic technique: The focus and the depth of field used in this piece was good, this piece sucessfully captured the smoke.
Nice capture of interesting physics in the smoke plume. Incense sticks create so many interesting shapes in the smoke if you sit down and watch them. It’s too bad the background wasn’t isolated from the subject in these photos.
Focus on the smoke is crisp. The black background contrasts nicely with the smoke and the gradient of black is interesting, however I think the image might have popped more if the entire image had the dark black of the upper right of the image.
If you could bring out the smoke a little more by creating a contrast that would be really cool. Otherwise the phenomenon you captured is incredible.
Really interesting instability; each loop conveys to the dynamic sense of the image. It’s very minimalistic but still aesthetically pleasing.
very neat effect. the natural progression of the fluid flow is clearly seen. The instability is nicely ordered, and at regular intervals, which is quite pleasing to the viewer. Some more contrast with the background would be nice.
Really nice capture of flow phenomena with smoke. Super interesting how the smoke seems to create separate vortexes with different spacing.
I would never have guessed that incense smoke would be so laminar. Really cool photo! A slightly larger contrast might be worth exploring.
I like how the smoke creates rings. The flow can be clearly seen and is aesthetically pleasing
Interesting instability displayed here. The way the background fades to a lighter black is distracting from the physics. Keeping a solid black color would aid the contrast issue.
Cool image. Great background!! Good lighting and focus !
1. Artistically very interesting image. The numerous smoke rings are very nice.
2. The fluid physics are well shown.
3. The photographic technique is subtlety very nice.
Cool to see how the flow formed. Has a nice pattern to flow. Adding more contrast or brightening the smoke would help make the flow pop.
You did a good job capturing the “rolling” instabilities in the plume of the smoke. Controlling the background more may have helped lend to the contrast between the smoke and the background.
This photo reminds me of a foot, even though it has six “toes”. Crisp image, however I think if the background was completely blacked out it would add a stronger contrast.
Nice clean clear crisp photo. The fluid flow is really interesting, I like how you can see a clear pattern in the photo. The grayscale is a really nice effect here. Awesome, awesome photo!
Nice effect, you captured a great instability here. I think the lighting could be a little better, bring out that smoke a little more!
