I have selected the visualization of an active region of a sunspot where an area of intense and complex magnetic fields rotate into view on a surface of the Sun.

This visualization shows the blended view of the sunspot in visible and extreme ultraviolet where the particles spiral along the magnetic filed lines.

    1st Place. I think this is a really cool picture as it captures how the magnetic field of the sun is so powerful that it is always fluctuating and at times will cause plasma to be flung outward from the surface of the sun.

    Second. The outward circular rings are indicative of the powerful forces driving the flow to derive from a point source. Interestingly enough, similar flows could be produced from smaller experiments, yet naturally, this is occurring on a scale of incomparable magnitudes.

    1st place. The sun fascinates me. It fills each of our days with such brightness. Because of this we cannot actually see it for what it is. This picture is a peep into something so common and yet somewhat off limits. When revealed the sun’s dynamics are fascinating and unlike anything else. Love seeing this.
