I chose this fluid art made by Brittany Zick-Chavez. The mixed oil with different colors gave me a lot of inspiration. It just looks like a dot form of rainbow to me. After I had some research about the fluid art, I surprised at how much the science is involve this little piece of art. You could easily find spreading dots at the center. This phenomenon happens based on the theory of Rayleigh-Taylor instability. RT instability is an instability of an interface between two fluids of different densities which occurs when the lighter fluid is pushing the heavier fluid. The most beautiful thing that I found in this piece is the connection between art and science.

Third place. The colors really show how the paints are interacting with each other. It’s simply beautiful.
Third place.
I feel the use of colors in this image is what really sets it apart from other images. The different density and viscosity of the liquids used are highlighted extremely well. The colors are all bright and vivid, and create a very bright and aesthetic image.
Third Place – The colors here are pretty stunning, and the image shows very well the mechanics that occur at the interface between fluids of different densities.
