Tanner Wismer – Get Wet

Tanner Wismer – Get Wet

A water vortex that is formed as gravity pulls the water through an opening in the cap. Swirling the bottle while pouring it out causes the formation of a vortex, making it easier for air to enter the bottle and lets the water flow faster.

Nice vortex in the bottle! I used to have a double-bottle vortex system. The helical nature is crisp and well-depicted.

The focus seems to be around the cap of the bottle, and not the fluid motion vortex inside the bottle. Color and exposure looks great. maybe try to get a faster shutter speed?

I really like the colors in this photo. I wonder if it would be interesting to photograph the vortex from either the top or the bottom.

Awesome vortex experiment. You did a great job with the focus and lighting of the image. You might want to use a smoothing tool for the edges of the bottle to blend the background.

I like that the water vortex is narrow and clear. Nice lightning and focus. Great job!

It is really cool that the vortex goes all the way down to the top of the bottle. The background really draws the attention to the bottle. It would be cool if the bottle were completely vertical.

Great picture! The vortex has so many different levels where the surface cuts, yet at the top, it seems radially symmetric. Good use of photoshop to focus in on the phenomena.

The vortex is clear to see and aesthetically pleasing. Everything needed is in focus and the simplicity of the image makes it excellent.

I like the solid background color, it really makes the plastic water bottle and vortex ‘pop’. Maybe a different lighting technique would be most beneficial. Overall, great focus and contrasting.

The vortex is clearly visualized, and the focus is pretty spot on. I like the decision to drop out the background.

The physics of this image is very interesting. I think the surface of the water is aesthetically pleasing the way that it makes rings.

I really like how clear the vortex is, it’s a nicely illustrated flow. A cleaner background would have helped highlight the flow, but it isn’t too distracting. Good focus as well.

This is me being nitpicky but I think you should straighten this image so that the water line is completely horizontal. Excellent showcase of flow.

This technique is pretty interesting and creative. Is the water at the very bottom intentional and supposed to be in the picture?

I like the color contrast between the subject and the background, solid background is a nice choice but you could consider shooting against a less complex background in the future, as the specular highlights on the bottle are a bit distracting.

    Art
The intent was realized. You nailed this, I like the aesthetics.
    Flow:
Great job, you captured the physics nicely. I like that we can really see the whirls in the vortex.
    Photographic Technique:
It’s soooo nice. In focus, time-reolved. The reflections in the water a little distracting—I can see your desk :)

Art: The colors and composition of the image are great, however I would rotate the bottle to be 90 degrees.
Flow: The vortex is awesome to look at.
Technique: Maybe diffuse lighting a bit more to reduce glare

Good focus in this image. Did you consider cropping the image to focus solely on the vortex? The colors are good and getting rid of the background definitely helped focus the image on the flow inside the bottle.

The post processing is a little rough on the edges of the bottle. Smoothing those out would be a good addition.

Nice crisp image with a concise picture of the flow. Aesthetically speaking I believe it would be nice to only focus on what is happening in the bottle not the bottle itself.
