Get Wet | Garrett Wolcott

A freshly laid egg is cracked and dropped onto glass.  The egg white, or albumen, is less viscous than a store bought egg due to the freezing outdoor temperatures.  The yolk breaks immediately due to thinning of the albumen.

Wow! That was kinda disgusting! But it was really cool to watch the action of the eggs cracking and dropping. I would be really curious to see the egg cooking from underside the glass.

I like the perspective from which you shot this video. Nice attention to detail with the setup.

This image is very interesting. The bubbles forming from the cracking of the egg certainly catch the eye. Overall, nice image!

I find the perspective of this video really great. It makes the overall video more interesting than if it were just a simple side view.

Cool flow phenomenon. I think the biggest problem was just a lack of lighting, but that’s a minor complaint!

What a creative idea! Cracking the egg slowly really helped identify the different flows.

The video is an interesting demonstration of the flow, I like the representation and the perspective!

So, so beautiful. High quality production and delicate experiment. I love that you worked so hard to make something so beautiful,, it’s absolutely successful.

I also love that it starts out of focus, it makes the impact all the more fascinating.

One of the most interesting submissions I think. Super interesting concept and composition. The flow was really cool to look at. I might have slowed the video a bit just to see the interesting viscous effects more.

I wish the egg didn’t drift off screen. I really like the bottom angle. Have you seen any of the videos that show cooking oils being splashed into a heated skillet?

Great explanation for what is causing the egg to break. The lighting works well for keeping the attention on the egg. Slowing down the moment right when the egg breaks would help to see what’s happening.

I really like the sudden explosion of egg, out from the dark. The color is really stunning, and the focus is good as well. The first half, while it builds tension, is somewhat confusing and I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to be looking at.

This is such a unique idea and I love the result. Using eggs for flow is such a cool idea. I also really like the perspective of having the egg drop toward the camera.
Maybe the focus at the very beginning could be adjusted but other than that it was great!

It is really interesting view point. It is cool to see how the egg drops from the bottom. It would raise quality of video if you use slow motion on this video.

Great usage of worm’s eye view to capture the moment of impact of an egg yolk falling on a surface. The flow physics are made exceptionally clear because of your method.

This is very captivating. It is very hard to tell what is happening at the beginning, and then it becomes clear and when the egg drop and breaks, it is kinda funny. The breaking egg is interesting.

It’s dark at first and hard to see but it builds up to the explosion of yellow from the yolk. Very well executed.

Nice. Reminds me of every morning. Love the new perspective. Never knew about the cold causing weak yokes. I don’t like how the egg smells cooking an egg with a broken yoke.

Very cool effect. Maybe if you adjust the lighting and focus so that the attention is geared towards the actual egg itself.

Interesting idea, I like how the viewer is underneath the egg instead of above. The focus is a little fuzzy but the lighting is really nice.

Fantastic idea and presentation; the unique angle, the title sequence, and the music all add to the experience. I love the dark lighting, but due to the camera you used or the youtube compression the video looks low-resolution and there is a lot of pattern noise. I would consider increasing the amount of lighting to try to fix this.

  • Cool idea, I like that you shot the video from an unconventional angle. The flow was interesting, I think it would be really cool if the video were shot at an even higher frame rate to show the impact.

Interesting idea to show flow visualization. Really cool camera angle where we can see the egg yoke seem to fall onto the camera lens. It is a little dark and some more lighting could help the audience see the experiment better.
