This is a cool idea and a cool video. I would remove the setup portion of the video though.

  • Awesome experiment. I really liked the lighting and the setup of the video. I think this experiment was really cool! The video kept me interested and I think it was done well. Maybe a slow motion video could show this even better!

I think this is such a cool idea!
The focus could probably have been more on the flow if you were to edit the beginning and end of the videos to cut out the setup.

I’ve never thought of this! It’d be nice of you zoomed in a little more but it worked out very well!

Really cool image. I have never seen anything like this where a ‘makeshift’ lava lamp was created inside a glass. Good mix of colors that make the picture aesthetically pleasing. Good lighting and contrast. Overall, awesome and original image.

This is awesome – I’ve never heard of create your own lava lamps before. If it is possible to make the bubbles larger that would be nice to see.

Love the simplicity and the color of the red dyes. The perfectly formed bubbles are interesting to look at and emulate a lava lamp of sorts.

Lovely video. All the flow physics happening inside of the wine glass are aesthetically pleasing and are clearly highlighted due to the colors present. Furthermore, the music really enhances the feeling of this submission.

The bubbles are very fascinating and move at a relatively fast pace. The music gives it a calming effect, despite the busyness of the fluid movement. I really like how the first three drops of fluid stick to the surface for a brief moment before sinking down in the oil.

It’s interesting how the tablet propels the dye upward and back in. The colors interact well.

This is a really nice video. The background and stem of the water are a little much of a part of the frame but the physics of the video are beautiful.

The video’s depiction of the food coloring circulating has very lava-like colors. Is this captured in real time? Slowing down the video may help visualize the fluid mechanics.

This is a really beautiful video. I love the colors and the motion. I am really curious as to what the flow is called.
Cropping and editing the background would helpful.

This video really captures my attention. The motion that the tablet creates a great aesthetic. Did you try different color coordinations.

This is a really cool concept, and the aesthetics are really pleasing and elegant – for most of the video. Some of the clarity and color gets lost after a while. I think focusing in on the glass itself would really help, because what’s happening in there is really neat.

Great experiment with a fascinating result, but your capturing of the video could use some improvement. Cutting the beginning of the video and not using autofocus will help make it look more professional, and the colors are a bit washed out, you could consider adjusting white balance, exposure, or using postprocessing. Excellent choice of music.

  • The realtime flow in this video and the interesting cohesion effect of the oil created a really interesting motion! Good job with your video

Sweet lava lamp. Well done. The background sheet is a little distracting. If you did this in a little photo tent It would look awesome.

I like the colors inside the glass as well as in the background. Perhaps you could use a smoother background sheet? The wrinkles in the sheet are a little distracting. I also think zooming in a bit closer would be a good edit to the video.

Very interesting flow, and the way it lit well. Some of the initial set up could be skipped, but I liked how you showed how you created the flow. The jump cuts also helped keep the flow interesting. The background is a little distracting

Great technique in this video, the effervescent tablet provided a nice column of turbulent flow for the drops of oil/coloring to follow.

Very cool effect. I think the background and cropping could help focus on the flow. You could also consider a slow motion video with the current background music to make it fit better.

I really like the idea of this image, this is beautiful! I would probably edit the video so that you just show the fluid flow and not the parts where you’re adding dye and such. I would also look at using a black background, this would help the colors stand out. Overall, great video!

The dynamic nature of the liquid is very nice. Possibly zoom in more on the glass and remove the sections where you are setting up the experiment/adding dye
