Depicted here is a two-layered fluid, with a layer of olive oil suspended above water. The blue spheres are droplets of food coloring which, because they are water-based and water is a polar molecule, have coalesced and are not mixing with the oil. Due to surface tension, the droplets are suspended above the layer of water. Seen towards the left of the image is one droplet which has passed the boundary into the water and is therefore mixing with the clear water.

The blue coloring in the oil looks very otherworldly. The variety of ways the different droplets dispersed really articulates the different stages of how it was dropped in.

  • Nice framing, the subject comes out well. I like the angle at which you shot the photo, more interesting than head on. Nice colors as well, this makes it easy to see the flow.

The mixing of fluids with different viscosity is a really cool depiction of flow visualization. The choice of background was a great idea to make the fluid the main focus of the picture. Overall, really interesting and original photo.

Awesome picture. I really like the lighting. I’m wondering how it would look straight down on the dish.

This is a very nice illustration of the idea. The angel is pretty good and gives it a nice touch. The colors are great along with the lighting, but the blanket is a bit distracting.

This composition seems almost otherworldly due to all the colors and the light shifting after going through the fluids. This composition is great to look at.

Love the colors and the saturation/vibrancy in the photo is spot-on. The focus is clear and the fluid flow is captivating.

Love the cosmic colors going on in the image. The background could be tweaked a bit and the bright spot in front is somewhat distracting but awesome none the less.

This reminds me of some kind of glass sculpture. The background texture looks cool as a reflection in the bowl, but is maybe a bit distracting around the edges of the image. The colors are very beautiful.

The droplets and the gold shimmer of the oil create a cosmic feel. The blanket is a little distracting, but the experiment turned out well!

The way the bubble on the bottom left is the highlight of the image aesthetically. Have you tried to tone done the brightness on the front of the rim.

I like the way the light is propogated through the oil and water, and the droplets are a nice contrast. It reminds me of an eye, or a nebula. The background and sides are distracting, I think you could focus directly on what’s happening in the dish for a more pronounced effect.

You framed the image well. Good lighting, exposure, and focus. I like how there are different stages captured of the blue dye interfacing with the water and oil.

Very interesting image, could have cropped more of the background out, there are many colors and textures interacting in the bowl which makes it difficult for me to tell what I should be paying attention to.

The colors are appealing, but I would look into taking this in a more minimal area. The edge defects are somewhat detracting. That being said, I like the oil shapes and this plays together with one another quite well.

Art: very nice effect, m the blue coloring and globular shapes give it s cosmic feel.
Flow: the effects are really neat, where the globs of coloring stay together
Technique: pretty good technique, maybe adjust cropping, saturation,

Cool setup and good explanation of the physics. Not sure how much you edited this but it may be a bit too much, or the natural colors are a bit excessive. Maybe consider working on color and saturation to bring out the blues and yellows.

Excellent composition overall in regards to framing, lighting and color choices. The different densities from the fluids do a great job at capturing the flow of the dyes.

Sweet picture. Fluids and colors are interesting. The blanket around the border is a little weird. If the rim were subdued/cropped my attention would be better focused on the fluid.

Good framing and colors in this photos. The solid bubbles of food coloring are really cool looking. I think there may be a bit too much contrast. There is a lot going on in the photo so maybe lowering the contrast or smoothing the background could help.

Really trippy how the parts separated. Great use of color in the image. I think letting it sit for a bit longer would let it congeal and give better contrast.
