This image was taken at 7:46pm on August 30th, facing East on the street outside my house in North Boulder. The atmosphere was unstable on this day, resulting in what appear to be cumulus clouds below a larger, higher cumulonimbus.
Below are a ceiliometer chart from CU Boulder’s Skywatch project, and a skew-t sounding chart from the University of Wyoming.

I like the mood this image presents. The power lines add perspective to this image. Also, the full contrast-range makes this image pop.
Super ominous! diod you consider cropping out the power lines?
Maybe too much contrast and a little grainy but a good photo of what looks like rain clouds.
Cool picture, I like how there are the two layers of cloud in your picture.
The gray color makes the image dignified just like a prelude of a storm. The clouds information is illustrated clearly.
This image looks really creepy, I love it. The cropping of this image is very well done. Great job on this image.
Great range and aspect ratio of these clouds, cropped nicely. GIves an ominous and cinematic feel to the picture, especially with the power lines on the left side of the lines, as well as the trees in the bottom right. The feint tints of pink are very nice as well.
It is very dark and stormy looking. I like how it can show how the moods of clouds can influence the viewer.
I like how you decided to make the image darker. I think it adds a look to it. I like the power lines, I think it shows a great depth of field. I also like how the trees are black in the bottom corner.
good image, great editing choices.
I really like the picture and I get a spooky feel from it, my only recommendation would be to crop out the power lines.
This is very ominous, kind of looks like the clouds are coming down to Earth and we’re all waiting and watching to see what happens. Very cool!
I really like how dark and post-apocaliptic this image looks. Most people make the clouds look bright with a feeling of happiness. I like your alternate approach.
The dark clouds looks great. The lighting near bottom looks awesome. Maybe crop out the trees would help little bit.
I like the power lines and trees towards the base of your image. I also like the tone of your image.
Great editing! Interesting to see how the same night has a different feel from the previous images. I liked how you used the frame of the power lines and trees to add depth to the image. It seems to have a grainy feel to it.
Almost looks like an oil painting. Like the nice dull colors to the photo. The side elements add nicely to the photo.
Definitely some good clouds here. The power lines are a little distracting but certainly would have been hard to crop out. I also really like the silhouette of the trees and would like to see more of them, I think they could frame the image well.
I like the contrast between the trees and outer clouds with the lighter clouds in the middle of the image; It gives it a sense of impending drama.
Great photo! I really like the dark hue to the image. It seems as though a storm is coming
The different layers within the clouds are clearly visible. The framing could be improved to avoid the power lines.
The contrast of this with the picture just 5 minutes before is really interesting. It’s kind of wild how much the sun and sky can move in just 5 minutes. I like the sort of ominous edge to it.
The colors are very interesting! Perhaps it could be less blurry and not include the power lines but it does break up the photo in a cool way
I like the editing choices of this image – the dark nature is really nice compared to the original image. I think the power lines aren’t distracting, but the trees are a little bit. Other than that, nice image!
I like the cropping on this image. The dark scale also adds a gloomy mood to the image which seems to accurately portray the mood of the weather on that day.
Great picture. The dark cloud is very good looking.
I like that you chose to go with a dark thundercloud instead of a typical lighter white cloud. The powerlines are a bit of a bummer but provide some depth to the image, ultimately I think they help the image overall. Might have been beneficial to crop out the trees.
