This photograph shows both the turbulent flow underneath the surface as well as the simultaneous laminar tower, created simply from droplets of liquid dye. This photo elegantly demonstrates how both types of flow can be created from the same source.

Second Place. The colors are unbelievable and the fact that this is naturally occurring is crazy. Very well edited to only have the photo subject viewable and all the rest black. Something I would happily hang on my wall.

Third Place! This photo doesn’t look like it should exist naturally. The existence of both blue and pink hues in the laminar tower while keeping them completely separated is fascinating. A lot of time an work must have gone into capturing this image.
