This image was created by carefully timing the drop of a game die into a bowl of colored water. The die breaks the initial surface tension of the water and the cubic shape sends water flying in various directions, notably to the right. Some water adheres to the top surface of the die as it breaks the surface.

Art: Very pleasing picture, can see all the nice textures of the dye’d water, almost looks like water from a pool, so it is quite refreshing.
Flow: Details are visible, not sure on the scientific phenomena being displayed, but maybe it has to do with surface tension of the die against the flow of the water.
Photographic Technique: Continuous photography was used which I liked,
This picture is really cool! It is very clear and in focus which i bet was hard to get as the die fell! I also really like the color of the water! I think it makes the die pop! The strand of water that is shooting out to the right cool as shows us more about how the die hit the water at an angle.
I really like the aesthetic of this, I could easily see it hanging up on someone’s wall. The white and blue combo is just really nice and refreshing. The caustics are really nice and the shadow caused by the splash is really cool too.
This is a clean, professional-looking image! The colors and caustics are very calming. Did you plan for the visual connection between the surfaces of the bowl and die? The jet on the right side add an interesting element to the composition, and illustrates clearly the effect of surface tension smoothing out the tip into a droplet shape. How did you time this photo?
A really nicely executed shot! The refraction of the water adds to the flow jumping out of the bowl. I am not sure what I think of the textured background. It might be interesting to do multiple shots with different combinations of texture (concrete, granite) and see if any make the bowl pop more.
This is a great picture, the focus is very well done. The shadow of the arch really stands out to me. The background would be distracting in other photos, but the white bowl covering so much of the image keeps the focus on the water.
I really like the strand of water that was created from the splash of the die, I also like the color of the water. it would be cool however to see the image when all of the bowl was in focus.
Great shot of the splash back right before it impacts the wall of the bowl! It looks really clean. I wonder what it would look like if you sank two die?
Awesome! The arch of the water is cool to see. So much so that I think this image would be really cool if you could eliminate the bowl and capture the arch of the water more parallel to it
The color in this image is absolutely stunning. The crisp white and vibrant blue really stand out. I like the sunlight in the shot as well. The sunlight makes the flow even more visible, and the refraction patterns are very interesting. Adding a little extra contrast might help the image stand out even more.
Love the spry of the water captured like it’s frozen. Why did you die the water the light blue over another color? Really enjoy the contrast of the blue on the whit bowl and the shine from the sun.
This image is in really great focus. I like the contrast of the blue instead of the milk you said you used initially. Maybe black out the background its a tad distracting.
It’s a nice focus and shutter speed control that makes this image becomes such a vivid one. The unique color of liquid is also attractive
I like the costics in the image, and great job in stopping the motion of the water. have you thought of editing out the background?
The sharpness of this image is very good an helps to show the flow. I also like the caustics along the bottom of the bowl. The blue color of the water and the white bowl and die make it appealing as well.
The set up and clarity of this photo is awesome and they way you were able to freeze the splash looks almost alien. My only suggestion would be to throw a solid black background under the bowl for even more contrast.
Great work. The Idea is simple but yet it is unique. The picture looks great. The position of the camera has been placed correctly. I would think that the picture will look much nicer if you crop the bowl and just leave the fluid in the picture.
The photo is very clear overall, with the bowl providing a good white backdrop for the fluid. Perhaps it could be cropped a tad more to focus in, but it isn’t too distracting. I really like the water jet that is captured.
Nice narrow field of view! It really makes the focus of the image pop. I like how the horizontal splash looks suspended in air. The caustics add a lot to the image as well. I am interested what you were trying to achieve with the shadow on the left side in the bowl.
This is a nice image! I think you capture the spray of water really nicely. I think having the contrast of the dice in the blue water (and the white bowl) creates a visually appealing photo.
Like the idea of the picture, the die sticks out nicely against the blue dye. Could look into changing the background of the photo to make it pop.
I like the sharpness of the image. The whiteness of the die and bowl bring good contrast to the blue water. The flow of the water displayed is cool and unique.
I liked the sharpness on how this photo came out. The contrasting colors of the blue liquid with the white bowl makes this image visually appealing.
The image is super sharp and great focus! The liquid motion looks awesome. It’s a great capture on the dynamic.
Wow, that is a sharp image. I like that you used a dice and a white bowl. It gives great contrast in the blue water. You timed it really well. Only thing I could think of is that you might use a bigger container and a solid background so that all you see it the water splashing. Very cool photo though!
