Clouds First // Shalil Jain

This picture was taken in Bradley Beach, New Jersey on September 1, 2019 .
This Skew-T diagram taken from nearby Upton, New York shows that the CAPE number is 0, indicating stable air. Based of the diagram, the clouds pictured above most likely formed at around 8000 meters above the sea.

Based off of the likely altitude these clouds are at and their physical appearance, I believe the clouds captured above are alto-cumulus clouds.

I like that I can see motion in the clouds formations.

I think more contrast would help some of the clouds stand out more, and darken the tree. But overall, I think it is a beautiful picture!

It reminds me of big claws having ripped through the cloud.

The T-Scew looks very interesting! I enjoy the way the tress provides scale to the image.

I’d love an explanation for the chaotic squiggly lines in the skew-t diagram. Great photo!

I like that the tree is in the picture, I think editing it out would have cropped out too much detail from the clouds and it isn’t too distracting.

How do you feel about the tree being on the foreground of your image? While the clouds sit towards the back?
