Original Photographer: Craig Curlee

In this photo, the storm chaser Craig Curlee was able to capture an amazing shot of the phenomenon known as mammatus clouds, which is characterized by this cellular pouche-like structure. This types of clouds is usually formed in the aftermath of strong thunderstorms and severe weather, and are formed from cold air sinking down from a parent cloud. I appreciate this picture both in science and in art because it shows such an interesting and rare form of clouds that should be studied in more details but also have a really beautiful color composition giving this amazing final result.
