This image was taken in Iceland by Chris Burkard after severe weather passed through the area. This image was very striking to me because of the contrast of the dark sea and the bright lights and snow. I have always been intrigued by the energy that waves can carry and the Aurora Borealis is caused by solar wind colliding with gases in the atmosphere after being forced down by the earth’s magnetic field. There are different colors of the Borealis because there are different gases interacting with this solar energy.

Second prize, very interesting seeing someone surfing under the aurora borealis, and it’s very well done colorwise
Third place, Aurora is a dream.
Third place. One of the most beautiful natural phenomena that Earth has to offer.
Second Prize. I really like the vibrant green color and the fact that it is outdoors and on a larger scale.
Third Prize. Great picture of the Aurora Borealis!
