“Water Buffalo” by Jason Fontillas, Digital Photography, 2019. This is an image of Black waterproof India ink squirted out of a syringe while submerged underwater. I like this image because the shape of the ink looks like a buffalo. It depicts the Rayleigh-Taylor Instability that describes the movement of two fluids with different densities. Shot with NIKON 7500, f/7.1, 1/80sec, ISO 500, FL: 28mm.

I love this picture. The edges of the dye are so crisp and clear. It looks like fabric instead of dye in water.
Pulling the buffalo out of the shape reminds me of being a kid and looking at the clouds to try and find shapes and forms in them. It’s funny because now that we have the clouds assignments, we’re all doing the same thing again.
This image is hauntingly beautiful. It is extremely clear and concise.
I really like the light gradient and reflection off the surface. And the black ink looks so opaque, it almost looks solid. I’d love to see a video of this!
Awesome photo! Everything is very clear and I enjoy the black/white colors captured in this image.
I love how the flow of black ink looks like a buffalo. I also love the reflection at the top. The gradient from right to left is soothing.
This is photo has such a beautiful contrast. Lovely idea!
I love this image so much. It is so clearly in focus and captured with the perfect shutter speed. The reflection adds such a nice touch of art to the scientific phenomenon.
This reminds me of a Cumulus congestus cloud.
I like seeing the reflected image of the ink on the top of the water.
How did you determine the size of the ink clouds? I love the contrast between the black and white.
I like the black and white of the image and the light-dark gradient in the back as well as the reflection on the glass.
Great image! I like the reflection of the cloud at the top of the water. Great editing to see the shape of the cloud as well.
Amazing picture Jason. I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but the reflection at the top is a cool addition to the photo. Having seen the original photo, I definitely appreciate how much editing you put into this shot.
I like how clean the ink looks coming out of the syringe. Such a high quality photo!
I really like how you were able to get the ink so in focus and have the edges be so clear. You can really see the shape of the ink really well.
Absolutely stunning! The dark color and monochromatic color scheme creates a powerful feeling with an implied importance. It reminds me of dementors from harry potter.
How many tries did it take to achieve this picture? Also it really does look like a buffalo.
Very cool photo, it does look like a buffalo made of ink. I like the choice of black and white.
Great image, I really like how a reflection of the ink can be seen at the surface of the water.
I loved the up left corner because I think the bubbles look like shattered glass.
I love your choice of black India ink. It creates a very ominous and mysterious effect.
The lighting is great from dark to light. The densities can clearly be seen and I like that its blacks on a white background as opposed to how a lot of the pictures are white on a black background so it was a good change.
Great use of black and white filtering. Looks very mysterious
This picture looks like a buffalo. I like it.
This whole picture looks incredible. The focus is great and the colors are awesome. good work
this shot is absolutely amazing. It has a really soothe and strong movement and its very bold!
