We injected food colored water into corn syrup which was compressed by plexiglass causing Saffman-Taylor instability in a Hele-Shaw cell.

I love the black and white feel. Gives a horror feel to it!
Your decision to make the image black and white was a really interesting choice and makes the image look great in my opinion. The photo gives off an ominous, twilight-zone type of feel.
The black and white approach was very unique. It helped to make the edges sharper. Might want to try using a different f/stop to account for a better field of view.
