A Ruben’s tube was used to visualize the affect of sound waves on air pressure. Sine waves of various frequencies as well as high beats per minute songs were played through a speaker and are displayed by the propane flame. This image was taken with a very low frequency sine wave being played in the speaker.
Taken on a Canon EOS 50D with camera settings: ISO 500, f/5.6, 1/40 SS.

The strong diagonal is very visually appealing. I also like the way the flames are rounded off. They symmetry about the diagonal line make the flame and reflection of flame look like a spine.
