One liner: “Coffee bean oils suspended in hot water magnified 40x under a microscope”
This is an image of coffee bean oils suspended in water, magnified 40x by a microscope with a Nikon camera mounted onto the eyepiece. The dark areas appear to be the interfaces between water and the oil, where the index of refraction changes rapidly. The coffee was brewed in a french press and then pipetted onto microscope slides. This image shows a slide where a cover was used, so the glass is sandwiching the coffee into a thin layer.
