A cloud-topped boundary layer was simulated and captured to study atmospheric flow. This image was chosen because I like the variety of colors included in the image and the way they mix so that different streams of flow are shown along with the interaction of the streams. Also, I really liked that this was a simulation of flow in the atmosphere and that the flow does not follow only one pattern. I love images that have features similar to clouds so this artistic portrayal of the scientific model is very visually pleasing.

Second Prize: The action in the flow of this photo is amazing, I love how it captures so many different patterns, fluid phenomena, and interactions.

Third Place – Although the flows are everywhere (maybe even chaotic), it is calming to look at! This reminds me of looking at clouds because you can potentially point out different forms that the flow creates.
