IV3 || Cole Smith – Bubbles in Slow Motion

This is a slow motion video of high-viscosity bubbles being blown onto a bubble covered surface with a black background lit by sunlight. The bubble solution is made from a solution of Dawn dish soap, guar powder, rubbing alcohol, baking powder, and water. It was captured with a Sony HXR-NX80 video camera at 960 frames per second around 3:30PM on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022. Taken in collaboration with Lana Pivarnik, Kendall Shepherd, and Robbie Cooper.

    I love seeing how the bubbles wiggle! I think it would be really cool to grab a still from this photoshoot.

    I really liked the depth of this video, how bubbles were too close and in the background but also in focus. It gave the effect that we were observing an event instead of a controlled experiment that I really enjoyed. Great job.

    I really liked the music choice, it added lots of fun to the bubbles movement. I also like all the action that you captured in the bubbles.
    What was your decision on getting multiple bubbles popping instead of just one?

    You capture some amazing bubble visualization in this video. The bounciness and the explosions are really cool and interesting. I like how your video features a continuous stream of bubbles and how the bubbles interact with one another.
