This photo was taken on CU Boulder’s main campus near the Center For Community on October 11, 2022 at 6:21pm. Below is the Skew-T diagram for Grand Junction, 20 minutes after the photo was taken. This diagram indicates that the clouds were most likely to occur at 5500 meters since that is where the two curves on the plot are the closest. These clouds are stable (CAPE is zero) and based on the information available and their darker appearance, I assume they are a combination of altostratus and nimbostratus clouds.

I really love the way the light shines through the clouds but I want to see more of them!
This is such a gorgeous image! I love the colors and saturation that you captured!
I really like all the different colors in this image. The clouds of a nice range of cool tones and the tree has a range of warm tones.
The depth and almost being able to see through the clouds in the little gap is really cool in this image
I like the softer colors of the clouds contrasted with the more vibrant tree colors.
The tree at the bottom is so cool, it reminds me of like those retro “Dune” posters or some sort of abstract representation of mars, the red sphere is really interesting.
I like the golden circle of tree, it’s like a sunrise/sunset with the clouds above. The hits of orange in the clouds are accented well by that.
I love the how the yellow light is peaking out from behind the cloud. It really helps to highlight the shape and edges of the cloud.
I love how dark the clouds are in the image. It seems as if they are going to start raining.
I love the variety of colors you get in the clouds, really cool angle!
