Leo Steinbarth – Cloud First

The image displayed above depicts what I think are a mix of altocumulus and stratocumulus clouds over Boulder at 7:04PM on September 12, 2023. I cropped my image to focus on the clouds and removed a tree that was interfering with the focus of the picture. I also enhanced the saturation to bring out the cloud details, creating a more dramatic image. The way the sunset’s light reflects off the layer of horizontal clouds is breathtaking. I identify these as a mix of altocumulus and stratocumulus clouds based on how low the clouds were, the horizontal rolls creating a corn-row-like formation. The camera I used was a Apple iPhone 13 with the following settings: f1.4 , 6mp, ISO 38, 33mm,1/121s

Great shot! The ripples really pronounce the larger formation as a whole.

I think the shape of this cloud is super cool. The colors are also very balanced and the sky color has a gradient from top to bottom, which I think enhances the image

I really like the bottom half of this image. The clouds resemble a heart which is a unique shape for clouds. A personal opinion I have is that I don’t feel the top clouds in the image are necessary to complete the effect of the image at large.

I like the way the lighting is coming from behind the image, it makes the image unique.

I really like the color gradient of the sky in this image! I think it really enhances the visual beauty of the cloud by providing a more interesting background than plain blue.

I really like the aspect ratio of this image . It heightens the drama of the image. And great work capturing such a cool shaped cloud!
