To create this image, I set up a light stand with colored tissue paper and a cup of marbles of different colors. Everything was set on a metal table, on which the colors are being reflected. The light through the marble is diffracted and then sent through the other marbles, creating a wavy effect. To take this image, I used a shutter speed of 1/3200, f/13, and 6400 ISO. I went through many iterations and tried incorporating different materials and altering the camera settings before settling on this image, which was the most interesting to me. The image represents the glass diffraction through the marble and the reflection of the diffracted light on a scratched zinc table.

The setup for this image is amazing, and the end product is very cool. I like the color you chose and the texture captured in the image.
Hi Stella!
This is a super interesting idea! I would be super daunted to try and capture light itself! Did you play around with different backgrounds at all?
Thanks Maddie!
I didn’t but I would love to do something like that, I think there’s a lot of potential there!
