This image was taken September 29, 2023 just east of CU Boulder’s campus, looking west toward the Flatirons. This captures fluctus clouds showing the rare Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in clouds as the sun rises at 6:50am.
The photo was taken using the iPhone 14 Pro with the 24mm lens, the aperture of f1.78, the shutter speed was 1/164s, and ISO 50.

Wow! I am amazed that you were able to capture this type of formation. I think it was a good idea to leave some of the foreground elements in to provide a sense of scale and perspective Great job all around!
The cloud formation here is really cool. I also like how illuminated it is.
I really like this shot! The cloud formation is super unique, and the coloring is pretty. Did you do much editing after the initial image to achieve the coloring around the clouds?

I am biased but I really loved seeing this fluctus. I’m so glad someone else thought it was really cool. I like that you captured the dissipation of the waves. It shows the full progression of the fluctus. I also like that you increased the saturation in a way that represents the really cool pinks and oranges that were present that morning. Good work!
