This photo depicts a layer of vegetable oil on top of water. Due to the different densities of the liquids, the vegetable oil remains on top of the water. A combination of water soluble food dye and water was inserted into the vegetable oil layer, where it remains in a spherical shape as it sinks through the oil and into the water layer.
This photo was taken using a Nikon D5500 camera with a 18-55 mm lens at a focal length of 50 mm, an f-stop of f/f/7.1, ISO of 250, and shutter speed of 1/50 s.

Hi Sarah,
I like how you captured the bubbles and dye floating on the vegetable oil as it showcases the density difference. I also thought the patterns in the darker region at the bottom were really interesting as they give a sense of flow.
I like how the little bubbles in the fluid are captured clearly. I think it makes the photo a bit more interesting.
I am really interested in the bottom portion of the image. I cant help but wonder what we would see if you focused the crop into there and changes the exposure and brightness.
These little mushroom-like shapes are so interesting, I like them.
I like the colors used to showcase this. The way the dark from the water contrasts with the yellow from the oil is very cool
I like the focus on the bubbles in this image. The distinct layers make this look like a very cool flag. If I had one suggestion, it would be to try a few different lighting sources and maybe even backlight your dye a bit. I think that would make the mixing at the boundary of the oil and food coloring (and some of the auxiliary effects in the food-colored water) more visible.
