This image was created by pointing several point lights at a tank of water in the dark and pointing the camera top down on the refracted light (with the side of the tank visible as a “horizon” at the bottom of the image). Red food coloring was dropped into the tank, followed by blue food coloring a few minutes later, which can be seen in the image as a turbulent flow, creating “clouds”. Refraction caused by the displacement of water on the surface create wave-like yellow artifacts which are somewhat reminiscent of the bokeh effect.
I titled the image “City Lights” as the coloring and composition remind me of a sunset over a city.

I love the aurora borealis effect! The colors complement each other beautifully, a stunning combination.
I love how you were able to capture what looks like the Northern lights up in the North Pole. It’s cool how “halos” sort of formed above the shot and the colors are stunning! Nice work on this shot!
