This black and white image was captured by taking a multiple exposure comprised of three separate shots. The image was captured by taking an image of white couscous above a piece of black poster-board and performing various movements to emulate a (controlled) feeling of orbit, meant to be reminiscent of a minimalist picture of Earth from space. For the first exposure, the couscous was aligned into a rough circle. The second exposure involved attaching a point force upward to the left end of the poster using a pulley system, and taking a picture as the couscous moved via gravity from left to right. The third exposure did the opposite and involved attaching an equal point force upward to the right side of the poster, and a picture was taken as this was happening.

In terms of flow physics, this image is meant to show particle-to-particle interaction how even controlled motion in a fluid can lead to asymmetry as a result of shear forces. We can track this via a velocity field.
