This image was captured about a half mile upstream of Niagara Falls. As can be seen, there is a clear and violent collision between the fast moving water and the earth beneath; leaving the water nowhere to go but up.

In terms of flow physics, this image depicts high velocity, high mass turbulence and the occurrence of white water rapids resulting from high flow momentum.
