A viscous fluid mixture (dish soap, soy sauce, corn starch) is suspended between two glass planes as they are forced together and separated.

Art: Music goes nicely with the editing of the video and shows very interesting flow!
Flow: Displays the Salmon-Taylor instability where less viscous air creates the viscous finger implant when the glass is lifted from the liquid.
Photographic Technique: The video has a very sci-fi type feel to it, the focused closeup throughout is very nice.
This video is very well made! I think the flow that you caught is really cool too! it makes me want to try it myself. Also the music is great!
Really impressed by your video work! The cut scenes give another layer to this laboratory-like flow. Additionally, you can probably do without the set up pictures in the actual video.
the whole video was eye pleasing to watch and I liked the editing on the video, being an editor by myself. the only suggestion I have is to avoid random things going in the frame.
The editing is great and I dig the music. I think all the different angles really add to how the experiment was carried out. It is a tad long but with all the shots it makes sense.
Great video! The music and flow of the video steps itself are soothing. The video clips show the fluid expanding and contracting from the change in pressure really well. Maybe use some more vibrant colors to show through the glass. Great job.
It’s a well-design and framing experiment. The adept video skill as well as the film editing skill are revealed in this work. I love it.
This is very creative. It’s a very unique type of flow and you did a wonderful job showing the flow with your camera. It’s very well focused and very exciting flow. I may add slow motion to some of the shots to capture even more detail.
The branching that occurs when you separate the plates was unexpected and look very nice. I think more colors would improve the shots but the flow is still clear. The focus in this video is very well done as well.
This effect is really cool! I think the colors are pretty bland, but it doesn’t necessarily take away from the video. The different viscosities of the fluids throughout the video show how the effect is a little different each time. Well done.
This is a super unique idea! It’s really cool to see how after lifting up the glass plate the liquid seems to leave a tree design
Nice to see something different with multiple fluid experiments background music, and multiple angles. The psychedelic visuals add to a very interesting project
Very cool video! Like the scene where you pan over vertically almost looks like a beach on a gloomy day! Why did you use colors that were so dark! Very cool to see the visco fingering!
Good job on the video editing and making the music, it sounds perfect for this style of video. It would be cool to see some different colors mixed in there, and with the bit showing the caustics, I feel like the video lost focus, like I wasn’t sure what the topic was anymore. All the content is great though.
Great editing in this video! I was wondering why you chose soy sauce as your dye because I think some more vibrant colors would have really made the shots pop. Never even thought about this effect though so great idea!
The tendrils are real cool. The branching is almost alien. The music was a good relaxing chose.
Looks awesome! Great job on the editing. I like the lighting during the video. It helps to catch eyes focus on the object.
Great work. The video is well thought through and the results is great. I like the idea and the execution. The physics is well thought. A zoomed-out picture at the end could show your work in the best way possible.
Daaaang that’s some cool stuff! Very well done, that’s really cool. Some food color and I think there’s some magical art to be had. Great ideas to do this!
The first thing that strikes me about this video is the nice timing of the sound with the subject in the video. The phenomena that is occurring with the soap and two panes of glass is very interesting and I can say that I’ve never actually thought about what would happen.
Very well done from the editing to the music to the angles used in the video. Really liked the leafed shaped design of the fluid when it is being pooled up. The video almost had a story to it was excited to see what was next. Make something simple cool.
This is a super cool video – I love that you have many different examples of the same principle, and from many different angles. It is really mesmerizing to watch, and I think you did a really nice job! I also like that you have the brief stills of your setup, so it gives us an idea of how you do it but it doesn’t distract from the video. A couple of the experiments didn’t have as clear of lighting as the others, but overall good job!
The videos were really clear and the liquid phenomena was awesome to look at! The editing was solid and the music complimented the video well!
This is very hypnotizing and quite well edited. I love how it shows multiple of the patterns well and how they form. We can see the interactions of the air bubbles and the intricate patterns that appear. You do a great job of lighting and framing the fluid movement, with minimal background interference.
Wow. Nice production. What you did that was unique to the class is that you were able to show more than one flow of fliud, which was really cool to see. Maybe consider cropping out the ruler and have the entire frame of just the fluid. The ruler is nice to see the scale, but I feel it takes the focus away from the flow.
This is a really well made video. I music enhances the flow be displayed. Great work!
It looks like a lot of work went into making this video and it certainly paid off. I think some still photos of the final results could look amazing with the right lighting. Maybe add a bit more color too but I love how it turned out and it’s crazy how that process works.
