What I appreciate about this photo is the mix of science and aesthetic. The photo is beautiful. It is mostly composed of cool colors and is nearly monochromatic, but the eye is drawn to the single pink droplet. Despite the presence of the bullet, the crystal-clear reflection and the stillness of the water give the photo has a calming effect.
The photo displays the cohesive properties of water, as droplets are maintained even with a bullet shooting through them. It also shows fluid dynamics, as water droplets fill the trail of the bullet, moved there by the low-pressure region that follows the bullet’s path.
In sum, this is a beautiful picture that displays fluid dynamics.

This is my third choice. I love the contrast between the smooth and calm water at the base and the dispersed and “shattered” water above it where the bullet made contact.
This is my 2nd choice for the BOW assignment. The timing on the picture is impeccable and really outstanding. I am curious as to how they got the aim so well to hit just under the marble. This image is so cool it almost looks fake.
Second Prize
This is a great photo that shows water interacting in several ways. The most impressive part for me is how important the timing is for this photo. Having a bullet hit a brief water interaction like this is impressive.
This is my 2nd choice for the best of web submissions. I am fascinated by the numerous ways contrast is shown. Being able to see the fast moving bullet contrasted by the comparatively stationary pink drop, as well as the depth of field creating contrast of in and out of focus drops is mesmerizing.
This is my second choice for best of web. I really like the smooth waves we can see in the water, but also the more messy splashes above it.
This is my number three choice, I appreciate the physics captured in this image in such a clear and concise way. The reflection on the water’s surface also incorporates a fascinating aesthetic.
This is my #3 choice, I am intrigued by the new perspective added to a common droplet photograph.
