Really cool picture, excellent focus and lighting. When you said that you used a white background and was about to make it black through your camera settings and editing I’m wondering what your camera settings were and what editing technique you used to make it look like this? Thanks!
I used a 55 mm focal length, 1600 iso, exposure 1/160, and an aperture of f/32.0. I also used a bright light at the end of the coffin on the right side of the photo and tried to let little light in.
To edit it on darktable, I cropped it down to size, used a simple s curve for RGB levels, and slightly increased the sharpness.
My favorite part of this photo is the top column of smoke and how streamlined it is. I think you did a very good job with lighting to highlight the smoke and having the background be dark. I also really like the details in the wood of the box, even though it isn’t related to the flow, I think it adds something extra.
This is a very artistic image. I like the description of it as a coffin, it reminds me of a graveyard with mist over it. I wonder what you did to capture the black background and still light the smoke and box so beautifully.
I really enjoyed how you were able to capture multiple stages of the smoke. The neat and structured smoke rising up complements the dispersed and turbulent flow towards the bottom along the wood. The focus and scope of this image is incredible.

I really like how well defined the smoke is. Between your background, lighting, and focus, the stream is really cool to look at.
I really like the way that you framed your image, it focalizes the smoke very well and draws your attention to the right places!
