This photo was taken of oil being poured onto a toothpick, with black food coloring, and into a tank of water that was dyed purple. The purple was not picked up by the camera and gave it a blue hue which ended up contrasting the yellow vegetable oil better. Since oil and water have different densities, the oil floated back up to the surface of the water and formed bubble-like shapes. This picture was taken on a Nikon D5500 with the following settings: 40mm, f/7.1, 1/800sec, ISO 6400, and EXP 0.
Contributions: Tank and light supplied by Professor Hertzberg, Camera from Monica Luebke, food coloring/toothpicks from Sarah Hartin, and oil from Lizzy Young.
