This is navy blue mica powder suspended in water contained in a small, 11x3x1″ acrylic tank. The turbulence was induced by turning the tank upside down and back again several times before it was set down in front of the camera. The only light in the scene is from an LED lamp placed below and in front of the flow, as seen from the presented image. The image itself is actually rotated to the right 90 degrees from how it was shot; gravity is acting to the left in this picture. The image is cropped down; the flow being shown is approximately one inch top to bottom (the short dimension). We ended up with a bit of a time crunch building water tanks for visualizing various flows, so you can probably expect more to come.

Shot on a Canon EOS 6D Mark II with a EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens at 1/250 sec shutter speed, f/5.6 aperture, 135mm focal length, and ISO 1250.
