Depicted here is a two-layered fluid, with a layer of olive oil suspended above water. The blue spheres are droplets of food coloring which, because they are water-based and water is a polar molecule, have coalesced and are not mixing with the oil. Due to surface tension, the droplets are suspended above the layer of water. Seen towards the left of the image is one droplet which has passed the boundary into the water and is therefore mixing with the clear water.

The blue coloring in the oil looks very otherworldly. The variety of ways the different droplets dispersed really articulates the different stages of how it was dropped in.
Nice framing, the subject comes out well. I like the angle at which you shot the photo, more interesting than head on. Nice colors as well, this makes it easy to see the flow.
The mixing of fluids with different viscosity is a really cool depiction of flow visualization. The choice of background was a great idea to make the fluid the main focus of the picture. Overall, really interesting and original photo.
I love how this turned out! The colors are great and came out very beautifully
Awesome picture. I really like the lighting. I’m wondering how it would look straight down on the dish.
This is a very nice illustration of the idea. The angel is pretty good and gives it a nice touch. The colors are great along with the lighting, but the blanket is a bit distracting.
This composition seems almost otherworldly due to all the colors and the light shifting after going through the fluids. This composition is great to look at.
Love the colors and the saturation/vibrancy in the photo is spot-on. The focus is clear and the fluid flow is captivating.
The blend of colors and textures are very unique and cosmic. Good lighting and focus
Love the cosmic colors going on in the image. The background could be tweaked a bit and the bright spot in front is somewhat distracting but awesome none the less.
This reminds me of some kind of glass sculpture. The background texture looks cool as a reflection in the bowl, but is maybe a bit distracting around the edges of the image. The colors are very beautiful.
The droplets and the gold shimmer of the oil create a cosmic feel. The blanket is a little distracting, but the experiment turned out well!
The color of your image is so beautiful. The image looks like colorful stars in space for me.
The way the bubble on the bottom left is the highlight of the image aesthetically. Have you tried to tone done the brightness on the front of the rim.
I like the way the light is propogated through the oil and water, and the droplets are a nice contrast. It reminds me of an eye, or a nebula. The background and sides are distracting, I think you could focus directly on what’s happening in the dish for a more pronounced effect.
You framed the image well. Good lighting, exposure, and focus. I like how there are different stages captured of the blue dye interfacing with the water and oil.
Very interesting image, could have cropped more of the background out, there are many colors and textures interacting in the bowl which makes it difficult for me to tell what I should be paying attention to.
The colors are appealing, but I would look into taking this in a more minimal area. The edge defects are somewhat detracting. That being said, I like the oil shapes and this plays together with one another quite well.
Art: very nice effect, m the blue coloring and globular shapes give it s cosmic feel.
Flow: the effects are really neat, where the globs of coloring stay together
Technique: pretty good technique, maybe adjust cropping, saturation,
Cool setup and good explanation of the physics. Not sure how much you edited this but it may be a bit too much, or the natural colors are a bit excessive. Maybe consider working on color and saturation to bring out the blues and yellows.
I really like the colors included in this photo it looks good. The petry dish worked well but maybe use a different background.
Nice concept! I would use a different background, maybe white, to see the colors and bubbles more clearly.
Excellent composition overall in regards to framing, lighting and color choices. The different densities from the fluids do a great job at capturing the flow of the dyes.
Sweet picture. Fluids and colors are interesting. The blanket around the border is a little weird. If the rim were subdued/cropped my attention would be better focused on the fluid.
The coloring in this image is awesome. I really like the idea of mixing the different fluids together with varying viscosity. The focus is a little off, but still a great image.
Love all the colors in this picture. Good focus and lightings. Maybe a little more work on cropping will be better.
Really nice colors and focus. I wonder how this would look if it were imaged from the side.
Art
It’s like a whole world in there. It’s interesting.
Flow
What flow physics phenomena did you want to show here?
Photographic Technique:
Everything is space-resolved—nice!
For how randomly the flow was made, the composition looks very nice. The flow is clearly visible and and all of the colors work really well together.
I really like the colors of this image. The use of different densities is a good idea. I like the bursting food coloring.
I would crop is even more. The blanket is pretty distracting. Maybe just a paper background would be useful.
Good framing and colors in this photos. The solid bubbles of food coloring are really cool looking. I think there may be a bit too much contrast. There is a lot going on in the photo so maybe lowering the contrast or smoothing the background could help.
Cool image, and the color contrast is interesting. You mentioned the ‘bursting’ of the food dye, but I wonder what that would look like as a video?
The overall idea and result of the image is really cool. A side view of the dish would have been kinda cool, seeing those suspended pieces of food coloring.
Nice focus, would be better to reduce the lighting to make it less bright.
There are a lot of cool colors in this picture and the flow is a really cool idea. I would try a more uniform light source.
I like the colors in the picture and I think this is a good representation of the flow.
Very interesting picture, very colorful. Good focus, exposure and timing. Flow is understandable. Interesting idea.
Interesting image, shows the flow of food coloring at different stages. I like the way you crop the image, overall a great job.
Really trippy how the parts separated. Great use of color in the image. I think letting it sit for a bit longer would let it congeal and give better contrast.
Really like the colors and color refractions. Love the contrast, but if the image was more clearer, it would have been much better
Almost looks like a painting instead of a photograph. The flow is really easy to see
The image is done so well. The yellow and blue are beautiful. The carpet in the background takes away from the image, but not a lot.
Nice framing and demonstration of flow, could work with some different colors to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
