Your music choice was ethereal, You had a nice setup, balanced colors with the red wall and blue dye.

Interesting video with a cool depiction of flow visualization. The background and shadow gives the video a cool effect. Did you try stirring the water and food coloring mix to get some more fluid flow?

  • I love the flow and the colors, I think this would be even better if the dye was a little brighter or more dramatic of a color. The video looks really nice, I think it could be cropped just a little more to focus on the glass of water.

Maybe choose a different background? that wall was a not as pleasing contrast! But overall I love this flow!

Art: Beautiful, the music adds to the experience a lot.
Flow: Beautiful and simple. I love the convection currents.
Technique: try a piece of large posterboard to see the color in relfection.

Nice meditative video. Aesthetics, framing and music work well together. A white background would go a long way but overall really nice experience watching this video.

The artistic effects of this video really shine. There is also nice contrast between the blue and the warm background.

    Art
Soooo cool. I like the patterns and the composition.
    Flow
Nice. You captured the Rayleigh Taylor instability and I think they are convective currents.
    Photographic Technique
Looks good! The details are crisp.

The setup is polished! Do you think there’s a way to eliminate the glare on the glass?

I like the simplicity of this and the slow motion adds a very neat touch. I can see why you’d want to use the shadow as part of the video since it adds to the music and the cozy feeling. However, have you considered shooting it at a different angle as well as doing some cropping to it to focus more on the glass and it’s shadow

I like the lighting, but the background and desk are distracting. The flow itself is very nice, I like that you focused on the long-term behavior, since the convection and motion of the dye after it settles are pleasant.

Very nice job on lightening. The flow of food dye is very clear to see. I like how you frame it.

The music is very calming, yet spooky. Good choice as it matches the slow moving dye. Using the different views and angle is really effective! How much did you slow this down?

The video is is great focus and I like the use of the shadow on the wall. Was this in slow motion of real time? Its hard to tell. Overall it’s a calming video!

  • Great video. I like the idea of capturing the drop on the shadow as well. The lighting used rewlly helped to capture every detail of the color flowing through the water.

I love the lighting, framing and focus of this video. The music pairs nicely with the pace of the droplets being added. This setup with a more interesting experiment would be awesome. Also, I would cut the first shot where you see the glass on the left side of the screen.

I really like the shadow in the background of the video, it adds something a little extra. I find the textured background is a little distracting.

The music adds so much to this flow. The blue against the red background was a good aesthetic choice. The reflection on the wall and the glass is slightly distracting, but great work overall. I could honestly fall asleep to this.

Great video demonstrating phases of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability using food dye. The video is quite soothing due to your usage of framing, the slow music in the background, and your timing of the drops.

Nice job on framing and lighting, but if you have time for a similar setup you could try to get a bolder background in white or black.

Good choice of music to accompany the flow. I love the shadow in the background but then you zoom in and it goes away, I think maybe keep it and just crop the edges a little.

I think a white background would have been cool. Like you said it would have been awesome if you could see the dye dropping in the shadow as well. Since we can’t, I think it would be beneficial to zoom in on the cup more.

A brighter/higher exposure and perhaps even a time-lapse video would have been good choices for this. Overall, the fluid flow occurring is captivating and the color of the food coloring is perfect.

Nice framing and demonstration of flow, would try not to move around in the background because of how the glass reflects it
