2003 Gallery - Team Projects
For two assignments, students were put in mixed teams of graduate and undergraduate, photography and engineering. The teams were given access to a range of flow visualization equipment and experiments, and were also encouraged to create their own apparatus. Students worked both as artist plus assistants, and in fully collaborative arrangements.

Vortex rings are easy to create by tapping the side of a cardboard box with a circular hole in the front. Stage fog is used here to visualize the ejected ring, and a sheet of white light is used to illuminate it. The image was then digitally reversed and assembled for printing.
